Private investigator steve fischer is hired on the case of celeste rivas hernandez who was found dead in recording artist D4vd’s tesla.

By Steve Fischer, Licensed Private Investigator, Search Investigations

I was retained by the owner of the Hollywood Hills property that was being rented to a management company for recording artist D4vd to live in. My role is to determine what did or did not happen at that property in connection with the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. My scope is narrow. I do not speak for law enforcement, and I am not investigating every facet of Celeste’s life or death. I document and preserve evidence tied to the rental house and share material insights with LAPD.

Recording Artist D4vd and Celeste Rivas Hernandez

Case context in brief

On September 8, 2025, LAPD located Celeste’s remains in the front trunk of a Tesla registered to D4vd in Los Angeles. As of today, the medical examiner has not publicly announced a cause or manner of death, and the investigation remains active.

The property owner hired me after LAPD executed a search at the Hollywood Hills residence that had been leased to D4vd and his management.

My scope: house-centric questions I was hired to answer

  • Did any acts related to Celeste’s disappearance or death occur at, or materially involve, the rental house.

  • What digital and physical traces link the property to the Tesla later impounded.

  • Are there overlooked items or recordings from in or around the home or neighborhood that should be preserved and provided to law enforcement.

What I have publicly discussed

Surveillance lead from July 29, 2025

I obtained exterior video relevant to the Tesla’s movements in the Hollywood Hills. I identified who was driving the vehicle in late July and am not publicly naming that individual to avoid impacting LAPD’s work.

Items recovered after the warrant

After LAPD served a warrant and departed, I documented several items at the property that I believed are important to the case and understanding who David’s inner circle of friends are.

Why this matters for the house: these materials affect the question of whether planning, post-incident staging, or other relevant conduct intersected with the rented premises.

Timeline considerations connected to the residence

There are competing estimates of when Celeste may have died, and I have discussed that I believe her death could go back as far as February 2025. Towing records I obtained showed that the Tesla with Celeste’s body inside the trunk was parked at the location it was towed from for at least a month.

What I am not doing

I am not working outside the scope of events and people that were in or around the immediate vicinity of the home. I am not out trying to solve this case or interfere with detectives.

How I work with the landlord and LAPD

I was hired by the landlord to protect legitimate property interests and to ensure potentially relevant house-tied evidence is preserved and transmitted. The goal is to reduce uncertainty about whether the residence played any role and to relay my findings to LAPD.

Key house-tied takeaways so far

  • Exterior video from late July provides a benchmark for the Tesla’s movements proximate to the property. That material has been documented and referenced publicly.

  • Post-warrant documentation at the home produced items I regarded as probative, which were preserved and transferred appropriately. LAPD has not publicly commented on those specific items.

  • The residence remains a relevant node in the broader timeline, primarily for July and August 2025, pending official determinations on forensic timing.
